One of three rivers in Suwalszczyzna, a tributary of the Neman. It flows through a stretch of lakes in a vast post-glacial valley called Szeszupa depression. Partly suitable for canoeing.
One of three main rivers in Suwalszczyzna, a left-bank tributary of the Neman with the length of 297 km , of which 24 is in Poland. Apart from Poland it flows through Lithuania and Kaliningrad District, and at one point becomes a border river (one of the oldest and long-lasting ones in Europe).
Its springs are situated in Suwałki Landscape Park, near another main river in Suwalszczyzna – Czarna Hańcza. Szeszupa, directing itself north-east, flows through a stretch of lakes in a vast post-glacial valley called Szeszupa depression. The valley lies about 40-70 m below surrounding hills. It is filled with diverse postglacial hills and hollows, lakes and peat bogs. It is accessible to canoeing above the mill in Udziejek (Suwałki Landscape Park), and despite a short and difficult route, it is extremely attractive. A land of trout and grayling.
