Strzelce Landscape Park

General

Type:

Organizer

Urząd Gminy Dubienka
State: LUBELSKIE

It is a typical forest park with dominance of pine species.

There are many rare plant species, 35 of which are under strict protection, for example lady’s slipper orchid, military orchid and large pink.

Strzelce Landscape Park has a poor relief.

It is dominated by flat areas, with some hills of low relative altitude.

The most clearly recognisable relief form is the Bug River valley, with its widest area in the Northern part of the park.

The river is of a natural character, with numerous oxbows.

Old river beds (called „bużyska”) are the remains of numerous former oxbows that are overgrowing at a fast rate.

The forests of Strzelce Landscape Park were listed among the birds’ havens of value to the whole country, and the Bug River Valley is a haven of European importance.

Some bird species, as for example the lesser spotted eagle, have found optimal breeding conditions in the area.

There are also many species of forest birds of prey: buzzards, goshawks, European honey buzzards.

Among other vertebrates we should mention the European pond turtle, endangered in Poland, as well as the beaver and otter.

There are two nature reserves within the Landscape Park area: Siedliszcze and Liski, that jointly cover 106 ha.

There are eleven examples of nature monuments (within the park and its immediate surroundings).
