The Cathedral Basilica



Erected in the years 1130-1144 on the initiative of Aleksander of Malonne, in roman style from granite blocks, it belongs to the oldest sacral buildings in Poland.

The Masovian Blessed Virgin Mary Cathedral in Płock is one of the most valuable representatives of romanesque architecture in Europe. Erected in the years 1130-1144 on the initiative of Aleksander of Malonne, in roman style from granite blocks, it belongs to the oldest sacral buildings in Poland. In the cathedral there are tombs of two Polish rulers Władysław I Herman and Bolesław III Wrymouth.
