The tower is a remnant of the former defensive city walls. It is a part of the third city gate built in 1487 – the New Gate. Rebuilt many times, in the 18th century it received the Baroque dome with a lantern. The original name, Łaziebna - Bath, is taken from the town baths located nearby, the current name (Głodowa - Hunger) derived from the bastion dismantled at the beginning of the XIX century, which served as a prison. The tower is 35 m tall.
