Holy Family Church



Church in baroque style was built by reformatory monastery in 1673.

The interior of temple has one nave and is decorated in rococo style. Six wooden altars, church ambo, confessionals, pews and balustrade were made by wood-carver Jozef Eglauer. On the left to the nave a garrison chapel was added in 1731. The chapel was founded by a Poznan warrant officer, hussarian colonel – Piotr Sokolnicki. At church entrance lies a slab with an inscription in latin: „Hic iacet peccator 1706", which means „A sinner lies here". In 1914 during city bombing church was partly destroyed. Rebuild in 1919-21, was consecrated by Papal Nuncio Achilles Ratti (later pope Pius XI).
