CHURCH OF ST. CATHRINE

An interesting seventeenth century Church, which was designed by J.M. Link.

The Church was built between 1680-1686, designed by JM Link, as Church of St. Peter of Alcantara. In 1925-1926, the building was renovated, and under the new call (as a Church of St. Katherine) became the Rectory Church. During the last war, in the basement of that Church the famous painting of Jan Matejko "Hołd Pruski " (Prussian Homage) was kept here, brought from Cracow and hidden from the Germans. The current appearance the Church owes the reconstruction carried out in the late nineties of the twentieth century. During that reconstruction the tops and bell Tower was renovated.
