The Sleńdziński art gallery presents the work of four generations of artists from the Sleńdziński family. Its location is the former praying house of the Cytron family, situated in the centre of Białystok. On the ground floor there is a permanent exhibition entitled “Ludomir z Wilna Sleńdziński” (Ludomir Sleńdziński from Vilnus). On the first floor there are temporary exhibitions. This is also where art workshops and museum lessons take place. The collection’s highlights are works of Aleksander, Wincenty, Ludomir and Julitta Sleńdziński. The gallery owns oil paintings, polychromed wooden sculptures and low reliefs, rough drawings and sketches both mixed and organized in portfolios dated from the 1850’s to 1980’s. Other valuable items are the Vilnus graphics collection (mainly from the 19th and 20th centuries), and hand-crafted art and musical instruments, e.g. the French-Flemish harpsichord from the workshop of the Zuckermann company. There are regular prestigious events in the region, entitled “Czwartki u Sleńdzińskich” (Thursdays at Sleńdziński) where authors promote their books, artists present their work, and classical music recitals and concerts are staged.
